With all three holding such powerful positions in the legislative and executive branches of state government, Southwest Missouri could find its influence on what transpires in the halls of politics of Jefferson City dramatically increasing over the next few years.

Globe: Having Richard, Nodler, Blunt in power is great
The Joplin Globe Editorial Board is giddy about having Missourians poised to hold three of the most powerful positions in state government, including possibly the two most powerful. Of course, that depends on whether Ron Richard, R-Joplin, is elected Speaker of the House. The other two mentioned by the Globe are Governor Matt Blunt, and Sen. Gary Nodler, R-Joplin, who is now chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee:
