Lawyers for popcorn company ask for lawsuits to be moved to federal court

Lawyers for International Flavors and Fragrances Inc., and Bush Boake Allen, are asking that lawsuits filed against them in Jasper County Circuit Court by workers at the Jasper Popcorn plant be moved to federal court.
As reported last week, 44 new lawsuits have been filed against the companies for serious physical problems that have been caused for plant workers who have been exposed to a butter flavoring used in the manufacturing process. Forty-three workers have won lawsuits or reached settlements so far.
Motions to remand were filed in five of the cases Friday, with more sure to come. The companies asked that the cases filed by Tammy Parker, Jasper; Tim Pettyjohn, Jasper; Mary Arles, Golden City; Dorothy Morrison, Tulsa, Okla., and Lorri Ingalls, Iantha, be moved to federal court.
