Blunt, in explaining his staff's intentions, said with a chuckle, "I think people are trying to have a clear and manageable in-box. That's what they're trying to do."
Hasn't anyone heard of creating folders to put these extra e-mails in. It is hard to believe our government does not have the storage space to take care of the public's business. It appears that, once again, we have public officials who put their own personal convenience ahead of the public's right to know.
This is not a comment at all on the wisdom or legality of what the Governor is saying.
ReplyDeleteIf the staff is using Outlook, it doesn't matter if they are using folders. Outlook stores the e-mail in one file(I beleive it is called a post office file), and when those files get too large, Outlook tends to misbehave.
The easiest way to deal with that is deletion.
But, I find it hard to believe that the state server doesn't at least back up everything coming in and out. That may not be standard operation for anyone, I just always figured that it would be for the state.
It's quite easy to create multiple Personal Folders (.pst files) in Outlook and store emails in those.
