Lobbyist amends Nodler information

Springfield Chamber of Commerce lobbyist Sandy Howard has amended the August disclosure report to indicate that Sen. Gary Nodler, R-Joplin, did not request a $34.48 ticket to a Springfield Cardinals game. This means that the Chamber provided a ticket for the senator and one for his wife, but he did not ask for either of them, he only accepted them when they were offered.
My understanding is the reason why lobbyists' reports do not immediately go on the Ethics Commission website is to give officials the opportunity to check them for mistakes. Unfortunately for Nodler and his staff, they missed this one, and had to let The Turner Report do their work for them. I will anxiously await their thank you.

To further clarify the record, so that no one feels I am slighting Sen. Nodler, Ethics Commission records indicate he has not asked for any of the $1,495.82 worth of gifts that lobbyists have bestowed upon him during the first eight months of 2007.

Among the gifts he did not solicit were:

-Basketball tickets from Stephen Knorr, University of Missouri lobbyist, worth $32.
-Kansas City Royals tickets worth $20 from Thomas Krewson, lobbyist for Comcast
-"Other" worth $296.64 from Alan "Chip" Mason, representing Hershend Enterprises (Silver Dollar City)
-Meals, food, and beverage worth $139.37 on Jan. 3 from Patricia Strader, lobbyist for Empire District Electric Company
-A $242.19 gift from Gary Burton, representing the Missouri Council of School Administrators
-$141.24 for travel from David Winton, listed as representing his own lobbying firm, Penman & Winton, which represents AT&T and Pfizer, among numerous other interests.
-$164.74 worth of meals, food, and beverage from David Klarich, lobbyist for AT&T, at the annual ALEC Conference. It should be noted that Nodler also did not solicit the additional $164.74 worth of meals, food and beverage that Klarich bought for Nodler's wife Joncee.
-A $21.27 meal at the ALEC Conference from Ann Williams, lobbyist for the pharmaceutical company Wyeth. Again, Nodler did not solicit either that meal or the additional $21.27 meal Ms. Williams bought for Mrs. Nodler.

Again, to be perfectly fair to Sen. Nodler, I should point out that the $1,495.82 worth of gifts that he has NOT solicited during the first eight months of 2007 is more than double the $713.49 worth of lobbyists' gifts that he did not solicit in 2006.

Randy, don’t let losing make you bitter, let it make you better.

Hey Randy, how much of this post is real and how much of it is a “typo” and/or a reflection of your inability to fact check or accept correction like a man?

Oh please, would anyone really report it if Nodler actually asked them for a ticket, who would want to piss him off? We all know he does these things - Randy did nothing wrong. Nodler is a crook and everybody knows it. There wouldn't be so many family members and employees blogging if he didn't need someone sticking up for him. Yuck, just typing his name makes me have to wash my hands. Keep up the good work Randy.

You see Randy, fact checking really doesn’t matter because your fellow travelers don’t care about facts, just give them a story that fits their preconceptions and they are happy. Maybe next time you can sex up the story even more by using some forged documents just like the big boys at CBS.

The error was obvious; the total was off by the $34. Randy should have been able to add and subtract and see that it was an error. When it was pointed out to Randy, he shouted back at the comment instead of listening to it. He just lacks professionalism all together. What is missing from this post is an apology from Randy to those he insulted when they pointed this error out to him. He has never been a big enough man or honest enough to apologize.

The law requires them to report it if Nodler asks. Its so sad when the facts don't fit your desire.

Nodler would be very happy to have carte blanche to do whatever, whenever, however he wants. Unfortunately for him, this is a democracy, not a dictatorship, and there are rules to follow. I look forward to the day when this person can retire to SW Missouri, where he will, no doubt, be on the payroll of some large corporation, as payment for his years of service in the legislature passing bills to make that corporation happy. I just hope he is not planning to be one of those to invoke SB 389, which contains a provision that would allow him to teach at a state university/college without the requisite master's degree. I can't imagine what he would be able to properly teach, unless it is how to take advantage of political clout and lobbyist's money.
Or maybe he could teach people who aren't handicapped to park in handicap parking spaces; there's a lot of that going on at Missouri Southern, and since Nodler doesn't particularly care for the handicapped, this could be his way of getting revenge.

If you're supporting Nodler, you're either related, masochistic or low IQ.

Its nice to see that Herschend Enterprises aka Silver Dollar City is alive and well. Wonder what they are asking for. A new municipality complete with MORE paved highway entrances, since their neighbor Mr. Plaster is about to be Plastertown.

Can't you just see it now, "Welcome to Herschendville, home of Peter".

"Nodler supporters ignore the facts- he asked lobbyist for sports ticket". This was Turner’s headline, it was wrong. When it was proven wrong, this was his headline:"Lobbyist amends Nodler information". The headline should have read "Nodler supporters got the facts right and I, Randy Turner got them wrong”. The lobbyist made a typo, Randy got it wrong and when he was corrected he foolishly chided the Nodler supporters. There is a pattern here. Turner printed this false rumor about Nodler becoming the president of MSSU. When it was discredited he said there was more to the story. He ran several pieces with false allegations about the movie theater, when Nodler passed a lie detector test and Amanda Richardson refused one, Turner ignored the obvious and attacked lie detector tests. Now he blows a typo on a lobbyist report into a false charge that Nodler solicited gifts from a lobbyist and when it is disproved, he just says the lobbyist corrected her report. Randy has never corrected his. Where is the headline of equal size saying clearly that Nodler did not solicit a gift, just as large as the false headline making the allegation? Journalistic ethics require that. Now we will get these people saying "leave Randy alone, poor Randy is being picked on. Randy is a liar who has repeatedly and wrongly attacked our Senator for years. He hates Nodler because his attacks always come unglued by the facts. Randy the jig is up, its time to close your show!

If you are supporting Nodler 2/3rds of us are with you. We know because an election was held. If you oppose him you are opposed to the people. Your opposition to Nodler could come from either a low IQ or low morals, it’s a toss-up.

To anonymous 3:45 & 2:34 and to Pinkie LeFevre. You continue the pattern, Randy falsely attacks Nodler then when the attack is discredited you jump on with comments attacking the person that was falsely accused, do you have any idea how stupid you look and how good you make Nodler look with this carnival, what a bunch of idiots. Even when Nodler is wrong you make him look right with your over the top criticism.

I have been reading this post and want to make a comment. I don't know any of those who are commenting, but one thing is obvious. The more Randy attacks the senator, the better politically for the senator. Randy seems to actually seem unbalanced when he posts things about Sen. Nodler. He just loses control and that's good for the senator. His work does not even closely resemble journalism—it's just amazing how stupid he looks.

Question; How many of these posters are real Nodler disciples and how many are either immediate family or paid to post? I'm thinking the latter.

I'm thinking we could refer to them as Nodler's nitwits.

That’s the Democratic sprit! When your side is devoid of truth, fact or reason, you can always rely on name calling. Kudos, for the witty retort.

To the anonymous name caller from 10:48. It doesn't matter who they are any more than it matters who you are. The facts are on Nodler's side. Randy falsely accused the Senator; he was proven wrong it has happened many times and I expect he will continue the attacks in the future and be just as wrong. It is interesting the number of people that defend untrue attacks on Nodler and the attack truthful defenses and responses. The truth is that by the time you get to this number of respondents, there are only about 3 people reading this far. I don't think any of these responses come from people related to Nodler or working for him, but what if they did? What's true is true and what’s false is false. The accusation that Nodler solicited a gift is wrong, period. Those of you wanting to attack Nodler for being proven innocent, knock yourselves out. As has been pointed out, you just make him look better and you look worse.

What's ridiculous is how Randy told you straight out it was a typo and how you refuse to listen. But its interesting to know that you're keeping such close tabs on Randy. Sort of makes a person wonder what else you busy little fleas... er, bees are up to.

  18. As much as I hate to correct someone who agreed with me, the term "Nodler's Nitwits" is inaccurate and unfair. It should be "Nodler's Nitwit." This is all being done by one person.

By the way, the obvious attempt at intimidation gives your guy Nodler a black eye all by its little lonesome.

Thanks for the correction. Sorry Randy. I was a little worried you wouldn't approve of the term but I just couldn't resist.

I wouldn't be surprised if the person on here supporting Nodler is Nodler, himself, or his loving wife.
    That is too, too funny.

Randy's assertion that these comments all come from one person is a total lie! I know because five of these 22 comments came from me, that means the seven other criticisms of Randy did not come from me. Randy aren't you tired of being wrong so often? Now Randy, this is a fact, no attempt at intimidation just truth. When you say this is all coming from one person, you are a liar, pure and simple. What I find funny is that these anti-Nodler people find the truth intimidating, no surprise they don't spend enough time with it to get comfortable, how many of the opposing comments come from one person???? Several, maybe all of them! I am certain that there are more Turner critics posting here than Nodler critics, Randy you already know that! As to Anonymous from 12:57, the only typo Randy made reference to was his attempt to inflate the value of Mrs. Nodler's ticket by more than 1000% he never said his false allegation that Nodler had solicited a gift was a typo. You can attempt to intimidate those with the truth all you want but it won't make the truth go away or the fact that Randy falsely accused Nodler once again and was disproved once again and it is too bad you think the truth is intimidating. Prattle on, nobody but the two of us are reading or responding any more anyway. Black eyes here go to the liars not the heroes; Nodler is the hero, Turner the villain.

  23. I hate to correct a regular reader and supporter of The Turner Report, but you neglected to mention that Gary Nodler is the most beloved and admired politician in southwest Missouri, perhaps even the state. Term limits must go!

This post by Turner completely proves his whole blog is biased in many ways. It's not he can't admit he was wrong but that he won't. If he did, his Mr Rogers' sweater would come unraveled and he couldn't use his blog to push his book.

Believe it or not some of us actually inherit things from time to time... We have parents, grandparents, and greatgrandparents who occasionally mention us in their will.

Still living up to the Nitwit label though, I see.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Anonymous5:16 AM

A nitwit is someone that would ask if anyone knows how to value old rings on a page that has absolutely nothing to do with that subject, that is a nitwit! It is far more likely to be stolen. If it was just inherited you wouldn't need to hide on a blog looking for info.
