Powerful lobbying firm's clients pour $21,000+ into Nodler campaign account
The powerful Jefferson City lobbying firm of Gamble & Schlemeier has once again lived up to its reputation for being able to bundle campaign contributions for favored candidates.
At least $21,500 in contributions to Sen. Gary Nodler can be traced to Gamble & Schlemeier clients, according to Nodler's quarterly disclosure form, posted today on the Missouri Ethics Commission website.
One of Gamble & Schlemeier's clients the Missouri Dental Association came through big time for Nodler on Oct. 30, with $6,875 in contributions, including $500 contributions from the Greater Kansas City Missouri Dental PAC, Southeast Missouri Dental PAC, Southwest Missouri Dental PAC, Northeast Missouri Dental PAC, and GSDS Missouri Dental PAC.
The amount also included $150 and $200 from various individual dentists, and $600 from Associates of Dentistry.
Gamble & Schlemeier also represents the Missouri Health Care Association, which delivered six contributions to Nodler on Dec. 13, according to the Ethics Commission documents. Since Nodler is now listed as running for statewide office in 2012, he can receive maximum $1,275 contributions, and that is exactly what the Missouri Health Care Association District 1, 2, and 3 PACS gave, while Districts 4 and 6 gave $625 apiece and District 5 contributed $650.
Those were not the only contributions Nodler received from the nursing home industry, however. On Dec. 28, received a $1,275 contribution from Health Care Leadership Committee, and $750 contributions from Glenwood Health Care, Gerald Nursing and Rehab, Fulton Nursing and Rehab, Forsyth Care Center, Fayette Caring Center, and Excelsior Springs Nursing and Rehab.
Though Gamble & Schlemeier no longer represents Altria Corporate Services (as of Jan. 3), it did on Oct. 3, when Altria gave Noder $1,000.
According to the Ethics Commission documents, Nodler received $48,559 in contributions during the last quarter, and spent $30,457.25, leaving him with $116,226.64 in his campaign account.

It's the book that gives you the background on the effect lobbyists and special interests play in Missouri politics. The Turner Report book can be purchased from Amazon.com.
Gamble & Schlemeier have more clients than any lobbing firm in Jefferson City. Any candidate with broad support in Missouri would have lots of it from their clients because they have so many clients. Randy is like the crazy guy in Beautiful Mind seeing patterns in everything, or that movie Conspiracy Theory. There may be some truth in what he says but if there is it is a pure accident. I think Turner needs medication
