Romney: We won the silver
Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney hearkened back to his days as head of the Salt Lake City Olympics as he spoke to his followers after taking second place to Mike Huckabee in the Iowa caucuses.
"We won the silver. If you win the silver in one event, it doesn't mean you won't come back and win the gold in the final event. That's what we are going to do."
Romney put a positive spin on the evening's events. "We have come a long way in the last year," he said, noting he was facing three household names, Rudy Giuliani, John McCain, and Fred Thompson." Tonight, we beat all of them."
The only problem for Gov. Romney is he was beaten badly someone who was even less known than he was, Mike Huckabee, even though Romney outspent Huckabee 15 to 1.
