News-Leader beats Globe to coverage of Joplin American Idol contestant
It isn't much of a story, but as far as I can tell, at 9:56 a.m. today, the Springfield News-Leader, not the Joplin Globe, became the first daily southwest Missouri newspaper to include any mention of the American Idol success of Joplin's Asia'h Epperson, as well as Jason Yeager, a Branson performer.
Miss Epperson and Branson made the top 24 in the American Idol competition.
While it is not an earth-shattering story of major proportions, I again contend that a success story of someone right here in our neighborhood, especially a success story that is being watched by 20 million each time American Idol airs, is worthy of mention in the contestant's local newspaper.
