Term limits may be beckoning for Rep. Steve Hunter, R-Joplin, but he shows no signs of slowing down when it comes to his relationships with lobbyists.
Documents filed earlier this month with the Missouri Ethics Commission show Hunter accepted more gifts from lobbyists than any of southwest Missouri's 16 representatives.
Hunter collected $295.67 worth of gifts, including four unspecified tickets worth $132 from lobbyist Michelle Galloway, representing Missouri Energy Development Association on Jan. 8, and a $77 meal from Francis Flotron, Flotron & McIntosh the following day.
Only two other southwest Missouri representatives, Ron Richard, R-Joplin, and Mike Parson, R-Bolivar, cracked $200 for the month. Richard recorded $213.32, including a $25 MU basketball ticket and a $13 dinner from Gregory Gaffke, lobbyist for Embarq on Jan. 30, and a $43.02 meal from Gary Burton, Missouri Council of School Administrators Jan. 31. Parson received $213.41, including an $85.72 meal provided by Phillip Schnieders, Missouri Automobile Dealers Association.
