Latest charge dismissed against Turnpike Killer

Misdemeanor charges of threatening to perform an act of violence and obstructing an officer have been dismissed against Turnpike Killer Paul Wesley Murray.
Ottawa County, Oklahoma District Court records show the charges were dismissed March 6 with Murray ordered to pay court costs. An April 1 hearing had been scheduled.
Murray's latest run-in with the law came less than six months after he received an early release from his Oklahoma prison sentence for murder.
Murray, 29, Quapaw, was released from the Oklahoma State Reformatory in Granite on July 4, 2007, after spending less than four years there for the 1994 murder of Sheila Mayfield, Jasper. Murray had originally been scheduled to be released Oct. 21. No reason was given for the change of plan. He is on probation through May 7, 2013.

Murray, who was 16 at the time, and 15-year-old Benji Trammel were arrested after throwing a rock from an overpass onto the Will Rogers Turnpike through the windshield of Mrs. Mayfield's car, killing her instantly.
