KOAM is reporting nine confirmed fatalities in connection with the tornadoes that hit the area tonight. I will try to keep this site updated as more information becomes available.
One of the areas hit tonight was my hometown Newtonia. My parents were caught right in the middle of the tornado, as it ripped through the house in which they have lived for 57 years.
Mom called me shortly after the tornado hit to let me she and Dad were all right. Their little dog was with them and was all right, but at the time of the call their cat was missing. The cat surfaced as we were talking. That would have been a double blow for my parents.
