Going to the dark side is not an easy thing. I found it only mildly amusing when some newsroom wag immediately started a pool on when I would be indicted. Six months is the top slot so far, but at least one optimist chose eight months.
“Indicted or convicted?” I asked.
“Indicted,” the wag replied. “The odds on conviction are difficult to calculate.”
Indeed, it is ever so.
Simpson was not indicted nor convicted, but was forced out of his $110,000 a year position as chief of staff to Attorney General Marc Dann. According to reports in Ohio newspapers, three of Dann's aides were fired and two, including Simpson were allowed to resign. An in-house investigation into a sexual harassment situation in the attorney general's office led to a conclusion that Simpson had not taken action to correct the situation.
Will a forced resignation allow the person who picked 16 months in the Simpson pool to claim victory?
