Simpson called "Clintonesque" in answers to Ohio attorney general sexual harassment probe

Former Joplin Globe Editor Edgar Simpson, who certainly would have slammed any politician who did not directly answer one of his reporters' questions, apparently was not exactly forthcoming in interviews with investigators probing the sexual harassment controversy in the Ohio attorney general's office.

Answers provided to investigators by Simpson, who was forced to resign his $110,000 a year a position after a report indicated he failed to take action to handle the growing atmosphere of sexual harassment in the AG's office, are included in an article in today's Columbus Dispatch:

Later, Simpson was almost Clintonesque in parsing words when asked whether office policy dictated that sexual-harassment complaints be dealt with "immediately."

"There's always a definition of immediately, but, yes," Simpson said in his statement.

He was asked, "Would you call 20-some days immediate, within 20-some days?"

He replied, "Having no experience in that, sir, I don't want to judge that. I don't know.
