Continuance granted for accused Micronesian church killer

Judge Tim Perigo granted a continuance today to allow the new attorneys for Eiken Elam Saimon to have more time to prepare their case.
Saimon is charged with three counts of first degree murder, five counts of assault, and one count of felonious restraint in connection with the Aug. 12 murders at the First Congregational Church in Neosho. The murders were committed during an afternoon worship service of a Micronesian church. Saimon's trial had been scheduled for Oct. 29.
A new trial date will be set during a 1:30 p.m. July 14 hearing, according to court records.
