Republican spokeswoman forgetting a bit of history

Designated Republican attack machine Tina Hervey just issued a release criticizing a spokesman for Attorney General Jay Nixon for criticizing a judge's decision.

It is amazing how many of these attacks seem to be directly related to the e-mails that Gov. Matt Blunt has not released, whether they come from the Missouri Republican Party, such as the ones written by Ms. Hervey, or whether they come directly from the governor's office.

The latest one is particularly amusing since it seems to forget recent history. From the way Ms. Hervey writes, you would think that many Republicans were not trying to undermine the current system of selecting judges. Apparently, it is only judges who rule against Republicans who are causing the problems. This is what Ms. Hervey wrote:

There are moments in life where things don’t go people’s way, and at those moments they often show their true colors. Such was the case with Nixon political attack dog Chet Pleban. Upon learning of a Cole County judge’s decision not to honor Nixon’s request for Pleban to keep schlepping for him in the case, Pleban whined saying, “I don't know where he (the judge) thinks he has the authority to do that.”

Well Chet, cry us a river. Missourians want to know why Jay Nixon thought he had the authority to appoint a political witch-hunt team at taxpayer expense to investigate a political rival. Missourians also want to know why Jay Nixon didn’t appoint an investigative team to examine his extortion of Ameren campaign contributions while he was investigating the company. Missourians want to know why your political witch-hunt committee didn’t investigate the Attorney General’s office since they are on record stating that they routinely delete emails.

Chet, we’re all smiling at the prospect of your boss Jay Nixon vacating the office of Attorney General and having Mike Gibbons restore honesty and integrity to an office that should be apolitical but unfortunately has been abused.

You could substitute a few names in that last paragraph and would sum up the way much of the electorate feels about the upcoming departure of Gov. Matt Blunt.
