Thirty-seven Sinquefield committees contribute maximum to Gibbons campaign

While the focus has been on the three-way Democratic race for attorney general, Michael Gibbons, the presumptive Republican candidate, has been quietly raising money for the general election.

During the last quarter, Gibbons has collected close to a quarter of a million...with $57,650 routed to him through shell committees set up by retired billionaire Rex Sinquefield.

Documents filed today with the Missouri Ethics Commission indicate Gibbons received maximum $1,350 contributions from 57 Sinquefield committees with a $700 contribution from another one.

Gibbons reported receiving $227,460 in the quarter, but he spent $289,102.09, leaving him with $378,599.17.
