It's not exactly the $10,000 that incumbent Jasper County Administrator Rita Hunter has pumped into her campaign for re-election during the past several days, but challenger Angie Casavecchia Ashens received $1,400 in contributions Sunday, according to a 24-hour report filed with the Missouri Ethics Commission.
Mrs. Ashens received $500 contributions from Mary Arnold and Walter Graham, both of Joplin, and $400 from Larry Black, Joplin. Mrs. Ashens has raised slightly more than $8,000 during the campaign, according to Ethics Commission documents.
The other challenger in the Republican primary, Monty Morgan, has raised approximately $3,300, Ethics Commission documents indicate.
Mrs. Hunter has raised $17,350, including the $10,000 from her own account and, as noted in previous posts, approximately $4,600 of her remaining contributions can be attributed to state legislature colleagues of her husband, Rep. Steve Hunter, R-Joplin.
How convenient that Rita is able to use her husband's money... Perhaps they are trying to pattern themselves after another political supercouple, Bill and Hillary?
ReplyDeleteI have faith that the good people of Jasper County will see through the money Rita is throwing at her campaign and vote accordingly for the most qualified candidate!
