Skillicorn gets reprieve

Convicted killer Dennis Skillicorn has more than six days to live.

Skillicorn, who was scheduled to be executed next Wednesday has been given a brief reprieve:

The State Supreme Court has issued a couple of rulings in the Skillicorn case. While denying his request for a writ of habeas corpus, the Court has agreed to a motion to vacate the execution date based on Skillicorn's claim that his federally-appointed clemency counsel have been unable to obtain interviews with prisoners and prison staff for the purpose of preparing a thorough clemency petition to the governor.

The earliest a new execution date could be set is 30 days after the August 27th scheduled date.
