why in the world do you care. At this point, it is probably none of your business. Get over it, Randy.
Get over it!
I'm sure it's either Neosho or Carthage...neither one of those papers have editors that know enough to come in out of the rain.
To Anonymous 6:23, I point out that there are still numerous people around here who care about local newspapers and what happens to them. I might also add that it is somewhat difficult to understand why people who supposedly are not interested keep on reading what I write and taking the time to comment. Oh, the mysteries of life!
I hope and pray that this is to be Buzz Ball's replacement. He's a douchebag and if it weren't for John Hacker picking up his slack the paper would suck more than it does already.
John Ford is a solid editor in Neosho, who is respected in the community and has produced a quality product along with his staff since taking over in April 2007. He is loyal to the newspaper and to the community.
To anonymous 6:46 p.m. First of all, how can you be sure the advertisement is for Neosho or Carthage....and you assessment of John Ford is out of order and a sign of ignornance on your part.
If you are a journalist in the area, you need to wake up..if you are not, then you need to talk about something you know about.
As it happens, I know where Gatehouse is going to place the new editor when he/she comes on board. However, until the company choses to announce something, it's the company's very private business. If private individuals want to talk that's their business as well. Why not just wait and see?
My money is on Carthage.
The disappearance of Buzz's bylines from the paper indicates to me that he is spending a lot more time doing publishing-type work and less time on the news side. And I'm pretty sure that Hacker's long-lasting (and justified) bitterness about the JoplinDaily mess will keep him from wanting that "Editor" title.
If the company were privately held, then things like staffing would be "very private business" as stated in a previous post. But because this is a publicly traded company, most of the important decisions regarding the staffing and direction of Gatehouse are now public business. Although I suppose there may be some question whether the editor position is important or not.
What about Moberly.... maybe if the editor there didnt sleep... The paper wouldn't be filled with associated press stories.... and if the editor isn't for Moberly please consider a new one for there.
