John McCain did no harm to his campaign tonight, with a decent, though not outstanding performance in the third and final presidential debate.
That being said, Obama won the debate hands-down. He did not take the bait when McCain ripped into him on William Ayers, instead, putting that issue where it belongs- in the dust heap. Obama also convincingly brushed aside McCain's efforts to drag him down with the statements made over the weekend by Congressman John Lewis.
Nothing McCain said hurt Obama, though McCain did nothing to damage his own hopes.
The problem for McCain is a simple one. He needed something big to happen to boost his campaign. He could even win the debate (which he did not) and still not improve his chances unless he won it big.
Barring some miracle (and those have happened in the political world), things look bleak for John McCain.
Cut the crap. This isn't a race. The Chicago machine is now nationwide. This election is going to Obama no matter what McCain does. The machine will manufacture enough votes for Obama.
ReplyDeleteLook, Obama is winning by 7 to 8 percentage points in polling right now. He doesn't need any sort of "machine" to get elected. Nor does any "machine" exist to elect him, other than the millions of ordinary Americans who are meeting in neighborhoods around the country and working to get out the vote.
