Kinder: Bond has worked far beyond the call of duty

Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder issued the following statement after this morning's announcement that Sen. Kit Bond would not seek re-election in 2010:

“Earlier today, Sen. Kit Bond announced to legislators in the Missouri House and Senate that he would not seek re-election in 2010. This announcement comes as a surprise considering Sen. Bond’s astounding record of nearly 40 years in public service.

“Throughout his career, Sen. Bond has worked far beyond the call of duty. The impact of his service to the people of Missouri and the United States of America will long be felt by future generations. His exemplary efforts on national defense, transportation and agriculture have laid the groundwork for a better America from this day forward.

“This announcement has created an opportunity for our Missouri Republican Party. Together, we must unify behind the conservative ideals that we share with families across our state. We will unite for the people of our state and for the future of our nation. We will continue Sen. Bond’s legacy of serving Missourians and working for the betterment of our society.

“Today, I wish Sen. Bond many successes in his future endeavors and, on behalf of citizens across this state, I thank him for his service to Missouri. I truly believe there has never been a public servant to do more for the State of Missouri than Sen. Kit Bond.”

Flip a coin, will it be Blunt or Nodler who will try for this position? Thank God that Robin Carnihan will be around to stop them.

Blunt has no chance of winning this.

Once the details of his sordid personal life get out he will be toast. He left his wife of 30 plus years for a younger model and was front man for bailout.

Family values? Fiscal conservative? Those words are foreign to Roy Blunt.

    He's finished.

Those details about Blunt have been known even before Tom DeLay took a fall and the voters in SW Missouri still returned him to Congress. Actually I do hope he runs since his defeat will at least get him out of the House and we can finally live "Blunt Free".
