The fnancial tides are changing for lobbyist Chuck Hatfield, who has strong ties to newly installed Gov. Jay Nixon and Attorney General Chris Koster.
Hatfield, who had only a handful of lobbying clients prior to the new year, now has a dozen, with nine of them added to his roster in 2009.
Missouri Ethics Commission records show Hatfield has signed on as a lobbyist for Monsanto, St. Louis; Peabody Energy, St. Louis; Wind Capital Group, LLC; Anschutz Entertainment Group, Los Angeles, Calif.; Coalition for Quality Medical Equipment, St. Louis; Delta Dental Plan of Missouri; and Mid-America Transplant Services
In addition to the new clients, Ethics Commission records show Hatfield represents R. H. Montgomery Properties, Inc., Sikeston; Stinson, Morrison and Heckler, Jefferson City; and The Cordish Group, Baltimore, Md. and the Public School Retirement System for the School District of Kansas CIty.
This is not the first time Hatfield has had a huge roster of clients, but he wasn't quite as popular during the four years when Matt Blunt was governor.
Hatfield is a former aide to Nixon, and was the power behind the Economic Growth Council, which funneled money into Koster's campaign.
