Blunt cited for failure to yield

Former Gov. Matt Blunt is back in the news, but it has nothing to do with politics.

Blunt was cited for failure to yield after causing a traffic accident:

According to police, Blunt was driving a Ford Explorer south on Kickapoo Avenue in central Springfield when he came to the intersection of Cherry Street. After stopping at the stop sign, Blunt continued driving on Kickapoo through the intersection. He apparently didn't see the oncoming scooter on Cherry, which didn't have a stop sign, and pulled out in front of it.
That's when the man driving the scooter ran into the rear passenger door of Blunt's SUV. The driver of the scooter suffered scrapes to his head and arms and was taken to a hospital emergency room.
The ticket does include an appearance in court for Blunt.
