Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder just told KMOX listeners that Alaska governor and former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin 'dragged Sen. McCain across the finish line in Missouri."
Kinder credited Gov. Palin with much more than that. "She energized the Republican faithful across the state."
Earlier in the interview, the lieutenant governor ripped into CBS Late Show host David Letterman for his recent jokes at the expense of Gov. Palin and her daughter.
It's great to hear that someone publicly acknowledges and states that fact, and stands up for Gov. Palin. Far too many, even within the GOP, have been quick to stab her in the back.
ReplyDeleteI believe Gov. Palin prevented McCain from losing by double digits, and an even bigger electoral college defeat. McCain's rallies when he was by himself rarely drew more than 2,000, while Palin's rallies would draw 5,000, 10,000, and more. People would line up hours before hand, and wait in the rain, the cold, and in some cases extreme heat.
She energized this Missouri Republican to vote for a Democrat for the first time in 30 years!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm not surprised at all that anyone would suggest McCain could have won MO without a strong conservative like Palin.
ReplyDeleteFunny how the anonymous commenter wasn't energized enough to share his/her name. Since there are some people online who make it their daily habit to post negative comments about Sarah Palin on blogs, "anonymous" will forgive me for not believing it.
My mother always voted Democrat. Her last vote, prior to 2008, was for Jimmy Carter. His failed presidency left her disillusioned. My mom was enthralled when Sarah Palin was announced in Dayton as McCain's VP pick. She registered to vote the next day and, in November, not only voted for a Republican for the first time in her life...but she voted the entire GOP ticket!! And it was all because of Sarah Palin. We're not in MO, though. We're in KY.
Let's face the facts, there were pretty much two democrats running in the last election, so there wasnt much of a choice to chose from was there!LOL!!!!
ReplyDeleteMissouri voters have chosen the "winner" for how many elections? Sarah Palin is no winner, but McCain was his own worst enemy...hopefully the Republicans can come up with a better game plan!
