Jefferson City News Tribune reporter Michelle Brooks, one of the top feature writers in Missouri, captured a stack of awards Saturday night at the annual Kansas City Press Club Heart of America Awards Banquet.
Michelle took both first and second place in the profile category and first place in sports writing. The wins came in competition with entries from newspapers with less than 50,000 in circulation.
Michelle, the former Michelle Dixon of Lockwood, got her start in journalism as a high school reporter for The Carthage Press in 1991.
