As noted in Southern Watch and on this blog, the term of Anderson, who succeeded Dwight Douglas as chairman Wednesday night, ends Aug. 30:
Anderson's term expires in September. He is hopeful that he will be reappointed by Governor Jay Nixon so that he can complete his term as president.
Judging from the Times interview, Anderson believes all is well at Missouri Southern:
"We've got a lot of good things going at Missouri Southern," Anderson said. "We just came through the search for a new athletic director, naming Jared Bruggeman, from Northern Arizona University, last week. I was involved in that. We've about got the health center completed, which will be opening next fall. The health science building is about 40 percent completed.
Those good vibes extend all the way to the board, according to the article:
"We have a very workable board. No one has a special agenda," he said.
No one has a special agenda?... maybe not special, Rod, but agendas nonetheless... starting with Douglas' and yours (athletics). It's the only thing you care about...
ReplyDeletePoor Southern...
Come on Chelf...
Rod Anderson is a very nice man, but like the other board members, is completely out of touch with what is actually occurring at MSSU. Since he lives an hour from campus, he has to rely on Speck and Douglas assuring him that things are okay. Anderson has little contact, if any, with MSSU faculty members who are so outraged over Speck that they may call for a vote of no-confidence this coming academic year. Mr. Anderson, I would encourage you to spend a day walking the halls of MSSU talking to professors and students. You'd get an earful!
ReplyDeleteRod Anderson is treasurer of the Missouri Democratic Party.

Why in the world would Jay Nixon not keep him on the Missouri Southern board?
That's unless Nixon has other political allies to pay off and scores to settle.
It's worth noting Rod Anderson has been treasurer of the state Democratic Party during a time period that it's been flagged by the Federal Election Commission for fundraising irregularities:
