The same discussions about former Kanakuk Kamps director Pete Newman, who was charged with four felony sex counts, involving underage boys this week, that have been featured on Turner Report comments are also taking place at the Pete Newman Facebook Fan Page.
According to the message on the site, this is where you go if "u think Pete Newman is the coolest guy on earth."

To all Kanakuk families:
ReplyDeleteWe pray for you as you sit your kids down and give them the horrible news that this trusted mentor in their lives betrayed them. Whether he directly abused them or not, he betrayed every single kid who's ever come to camp. Every child has been disillusioned and betrayed. Every single child. Every single camp child. ALL OF THEM. We pray that these children will not question or doubt their faith as a result of this "larger than life Christian hero" falling from grace. We pray that Jesus will be their focus from this day forward. Parents, help your children look to Jesus ONLY now and forever. You do it, too, so that you can model for them. Be careful not to allow them to "idolize" athletes, or pastors, or mentors, or coaches, or even you. Point them to the Cross whenever they "go there." Remind them that we've all fallen short. We pray for every camp child who has had this rug jerked out from under them...we pray their foundation is solid. We pray they'll accept that Pete has to pay for these horrible sins and that that IS JUST in God's eyes. They don't have to feel guilty for wanting him punished. He should be. Forgiveness will come in time and God will help them with that. It's okay to be angry now. Parents, get your kids to some counselors to work through this. Even if they weren't victims, they were victims to the degree I have described. Even this is going to be VERY HARD to work through. They need understanding. They have big questions. We all do. Betrayal and deception is a very dark and wicked thing.
We pray for everyone involved, including Katy, their daughter, and the Newman family.
How many people commenting on Facebook are just po'ed because they weren't considered hot tub worthy?

ReplyDeleteI'm glad to see someone has some common sense. Just because they have a nice suit of clothes and a fluffy hairdo and can make a 15 minute spiel on Sunday doesn't make them a Krisitian.
I have suspicion about lots of so called Christian organizations and their motives.
A known prostitue is more honorable than these phonies.
