News-Leader: More charges may be filed against Pete Newman

Former Kanakuk Kamps director Pete Newman already faces four felony sex charges involving sex acts with underage boys and more charges may be on the way.

Taney County Prosecutor Jeff Merrell told the Springfield News-Leader he would not rule out filing more charges against Newman.

Just wait. Many more kids/parents have been calling in to authorities in the Branson area since this news broke publicly TO REPORT SIMILAR CRIMES DONE TO THEM BY THIS TWISTED PERVERT!!!!! We haven't seen the last of it, unfortunately. If you have a kid who has been around him, you need to explore this with your child and a good family counselor/psychologist!

You also need to DEMAND ANSWERS as to why they kept this creep on staff, and promoted him to kamp director when there were so many questions and suspicions and records of inappropriate sexual behavior dating back to 2001!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I, for one, WANT TO KNOW if this is why they restructured their whole business to be a non-profit and HAD K-COLORADO break off from Kanakuk to become it's own separate camp (which is owned BY JOE WHITE'S DAUGHTER and SON-IN-LAW)......and all this happened RIGHT BEFORE MARCH, when he was fired!

You sure do know a lot....so I'm assuming you already know this as well. But I'm curious if the recession that we currently have been in had anything to do with the restructuring and separation of camps. Something to look at possibly and this is an idea. Is that K-Colorado wanted to try some new things..Just saying and I know since you probably know a lot that the recession probably had a lot to do with this. And there were already 2 camps that had restructured to non-profit before any of this had come out. Just sayin...

Kanakuk is a great place and this is aterrible thing for them to have to go through. I am sure there will be many of our questions answered in the near future. I beleive strongly in the values and character of Kanakuk. This was an individual act that a whole organization will have to suffer for. This is a prime example of the enfluence, both positive and negative, that a single person can have over a large organization. Please keep Kanakuk, their kampers, staff and the Newman family in your prayers.

What is it about Christianity and pedophilia? Same thing it is with Boy Scouts, YMCA, Schools, ets. AVAILABILITY. Hunters always go where the prey is. Chrisitian Camps offer only slightly better camouflage for these activities. But if he weren't at a Christian organization, he would have been a Boy Scout leader, Little League Coach, Teacher, etc.

I am Kanakuk Kamper. I love that place and it is amazing this is a super sad event and Kanakuk is having to suffer and it is making me cry Kanakuk is not a bad place it is a wonderful place. I hate that this has happened and is causing Kanakuk to suffer. Keep the kamp in your prayers and don't hate it!! I can post videos of the love the kampers have and excitment they show. It is a safe haven for every single kamper they go there worried and come back without a fear. Please do not judge Kanakuk by alligations of this. I am sevrely heart broken that some of the commentaries are holding it against the kamp. It wasn't them. I am praying for it all. Pete, Kanankuk, victims, Kampers, Kounselers and staff. They need everyone elses prayers as well.
