The St. Louis Post-Dispatch quotes Congressman Ike Skelton as saying he will aologize to Rep. Todd Akin for the crude remark that was picked up by CSPAN's open mike Thursday...if Akin was offended.
Thanks a lot.
Whatever happened to the days when people apologized because they were wrong and not because someone might have been offended, or someone might have misunderstood what was said?
Todd Akin is a tool, who has probably said worse to Skelton and others just off the microphone. Somehow I doubt he was really offended.
ReplyDeleteThis has little to do with Todd Akin and more to do with the way Ike Skelton conducted himself on the House floor.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Randy.Even if the mike was turned off, it is something that never should have been said. His comment more than tarnishes his Missouri senior congressman status.

Skelton can do this because he has never been challenged for his position and he thinks he's above people with lesser seniority...he showed that he is not above anyone...he's proven he's just a low class, no class snob. He's about to find out his true status.
ReplyDeleteWere you as offended when VP Cheney told a Senator to "F... Off" on the Senate floor, or when GW Bush swore into a microphone about Syria during the G8? This was a private conversation that was accidentally caught on tape. Ike said it to the man's face, so it was either banter or he meant what he said. I don't recall Cheney apologizing.
ReplyDeleteAfter Vice President Cheney told a Senator to go F....himself, there should be no more problem with anyone swearing in public, even kids swearing in school. When Cheney said this and also said he meant it, and felt better about it, then don't get onto a kid for letting a swear word slip now and then. When the next to top leader (or maybe more like Ahole) lets it fly, leave the kid alone.
ReplyDeleteI love writing this (and, thanks to Democrats, I get to quite often) It's Bush's fault!
