Former Kanakuk Kamp director Pete Newman waived his preliminary hearing Tuesday and will return to court Dec. 17.
Meanwhile Taney County prosecutors filed new charges against Newman, bringing the total to 10. Judge Tony Williams increased Newman's bond by half a million dollars to $650,000.
With the new charges, all involving sex with underage boys, the complaints against Newman now include four counts of enticement of a child, three counts of first degree statutory sodomy, and four counts of second degree statutory sodomy.

"Ok, are we still standing around singing Kum-ba-ya for poor little Peter ????????
ReplyDeleteYou people who are still saying he just has the same potential for evil that we all have- do you still see it that way?? Are you still saying that this sickness is just like all the rest of us, that any of us could fall into this behavior at any time???? PLEASE, Idiots!!!!!!
This sin is not like other sin. If you feel it is, then send your little children down to Memphis (or wherever the pervert is) and let your kids stay with him for a couple weeks. Won't matter that Katie is there--she seems to have no clue what's going on under her nose.
If you still support him, then SHUT UP and don't make people have to listen to you!
To all of you who are his victims: YOU are the ones I feel so sad for. God will bring justice soon! I believe that!"
AMEN TO THAT POSTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
To the above poster: I give you a verse out of Romans: "All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God." And another from Ephesians: "It is by grace you have been saved, not by works, so that no man can boast." Every one of us does things that are wrong, and God is no doubt disappointed with Pete like the rest of us. But unlike the rest of us, God judges us through his eyes that are constantly forgiving people for messing up. Pete has a problem - a serious problem. One that needs addressing. But still, he's still in need of grace like the rest of us. I have no doubt that Pete feels remorse and knows the terror that he's done, but couldn't help himself to continue to do it, like any sort of drug or such. The point is: he is human. As Jesus once said "Let him with no sin cast the first stone." He deserves to go to prison, but if he's remorseful, he also deserves forgiveness.
ReplyDeleteTo the 1:37 poster above:
ReplyDeleteEverything you said is correct. Each verse is true. We're ALL in need of mercy, and forgiveness. None of us is without sin. And none should be throwing stones unless we are perfect.
BUT, friend, there IS a difference in DELIBERATE, PLANNED, INTENTIONAL sin - sin that destroys little innocent, precious children!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes, he'll be forgiven if he's remorseful. But, what makes you think he's remorseful???????????????????????????????????????
Maybe he's "remorseful" (again, remember what a great ACTOR he is) NOW that he's been caught and exposed. Every criminal ACTS remorseful once they're caught and headed to trial/prison and beg for forgiveness. But he was doing this up until he got fired. The, between the time he was fired and the first charges were filed in Sept., he was going about trying to minimize, deflect, lie and disparage this ministry that he once "loved" so much.
Another point. You say he can't stop himself because he has a sickness. To that I say: He stopped himself at church. He stopped himself when Katie was looking (which seemed to be almost never). He stopped himself when he was sitting in Joe's office. He stopped himself when others were looking. He stopped himself when other counselors were present. He stopped himself when he was at a speaking engagement (at least during the time he was on stage). He stopped himself when he was in a restaurant eating. He stopped himself whenever Katie walked out of the house and over to the hot tub. He stopped himself whenever he thought he could get caught in the act.
HE STOPPED HIMSELF WHENEVER HE WANTED TO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How naive of you to think that he couldn't stop himself. Just stop and think. We all stop ourselves from behaviors WHEN WE DECIDE TO STOP.
My sin may be a lack of patience, or maybe jealousy, or whatever. But I can get a grip on these sins and not act on them if I decide to. Not saying that I can stop myself completely from ever sinning, but even when I do fail and say....."wish I could have the same BMW my friend has".....is that the same as taking her little boy into the dark, where no one is looking, undress him, do all sorts of sick acts of sodomy to him, bring him back to his mother with a smile, and pretend that I was mentoring him in the Lord????????????????????????????????????????????
Really?????? You think this is the same??????? You think God sees it as the same??????
I give you the 3rd chapter of 1 John.
Probably everyone in this case will find forgiveness in their heart for this pedophile at some point down the road, but likening his sin to the rest is CRIMINAL! You are further victimizing the victims here. What tragic lack of sensitivity and mercy. You know, mercy goes beyond forgiveness. Obviously, your child has not been victimized. Maybe you're his parents. If so, you are in our heartfelt prayers.
" I have no doubt that Pete feels remorse and knows the terror that he's done, but couldn't help himself to continue to do it..." (Poster at 1:37)
ReplyDeleteHow do you KNOW that he understands the terror? Help us all with that.
