Purgason wants to take U. S. Senate voting out of the hands of citizens

Talk about original intent.

State Senator Chuck Purgason, an underdog candidate for the GOP's U. S. Senate nomination against Seventh District Congressman Roy Blunt, wants to take the vote for Senate away from the same people he is hoping he will vote him into office.

Senate Concurrent Resolution 57, which Purgason submitted Monday, would ask Congress to amend the U. S. Constitution so state legislatures, not the people, would vote for U. S. Senators, returning the Constitution to the way it was when it was first adopted.

The resolution was referred today to the Rules, Joint Rules, Resolutions and Ethics Committee.
