Skelton files for re-election

Ike Skelton filed for re-election as Fourth District Congressman Friday. Skelton, a Democrat, has served 17 terms:

Skelton is a conservative pro-life democrat.

But he has been targeted this year by the tea party movement and a number of high-profile republicans have lined up to challenge him.

"Well, they've tried before as you know, several times,” Rep. Ike Skelton, (D) Missouri 4th District said. “I stay close to the people and I don't have hesitancy in running for re-election and I know I will do well and know that I will win.”
