Fourth District people have been digging deep to come up with Washington’s taxes by today, April 15. While we’ve been struggling to pay the IRS, liberal congressman Ike Skelton is trying the old political flip ‘n flop on his national energy tax of $900 billion.
Republican congressional hopeful Vicky Hartzler of Harrisonville said: “Skelton now is commending himself for backing a GOP bill to flip-flop his vote for the Pelosi-Skelton national energy tax in the cap-and-tax legislation. This sensible GOP plan to stop presidential action on EPA regulations can’t possibly advance while Skelton’s chosen Speaker, Nancy Pelosi, is in power.
“Skelton votes with Pelosi more than 95 percent of the time, including the disastrous cap-and-tax bill. This legislation may be the worst single bill in our history. It is a millstone on Skelton because it is a clear and present danger to rural America and cities, towns and families across our Fourth District.
“It is beyond belief that any Fourth District legislator, including Tax Hike Ike Skelton, would vote for job-destroying taxes of nearly $900 billion; higher prices on energy in virtually every form; higher gasoline prices; higher prices for almost any good or service; more good U.S. jobs lost to foreign nations; more than $50 billion in farm income destroyed, and monthly utility costs for homes and businesses that rise by more than $1,000 a year.”
Hartzler stated: “The congressman’s extreme ‘climate change bill’ proposes a huge national energy tax and sweeping government control of virtually the entire energy economy. I have been saddened by his steady slide over the years into a liberal voting record. But I was still shocked by his vote for the national energy tax. Too bad for we, the taxpayers, that he didn’t have common sense when it counted, when the Pelosi-Skelton cap-and-tax bill was up for a vote.”
