If Cynthia Davis is "a nice girl," give me a floozy any day

The oversized contributions have not been flowing into term-limited Rep. Cynthia Davis' attempt to leapfrog incumbent Scott Rupp into his State Senate seat.

On the last day of the second quarter, Mrs. Davis received a $26,000 contribution from Bernie Davis, her husband, Back to Basics Christian Bookstore, the business they own. Whether this is an indication that Mrs. Davis was in desperate need of cash for her campaign, of if she was just trying to make the final totals impressive on the next disclosure report are something no will know until about two weeks from now, but greenbacks were not headed Mrs. Davis' way earlier this year.

As I noted in the April 17 Turner Report, Rupp had almost seven times as much money in his campaign account than Mrs. Davis, according to their first quarter disclosure reports filed with the Missouri Ethics Commission.

Rupp collected $27,520 during the first quarter and spent $22,190.97, leaving him with $62,701.41.

Mrs. Davis picked up $17,704, spent $9,047.49, and had $9,985.07 remaining

One might think Mrs. Davis has been trying to jumpstart a fizzling race with her recent slew of outlandish attacks on Rupp, whose credentials as a conservative are beyond reproach. However, it is just possible and probable that the outlandish statements are just Mrs. Davis being Mrs. Davis.

She has been taking a particularly Palinesque approach to the campaign. Her opening statement, printed on her campaign website, rips into the media and everyone in the world who is evil, in other words, everyone whose beliefs differ from those of Mrs. Davis.

Politics has become a dirty business. The way Sarah Palin was nit-picked and harassed, we now can see clearly that the anti-family, anti-taxpayer and anti-traditional values forces will say or do anything to trash people who share the same opinions as you and me.

Since they can’t win on their ideas, they use the media and internet to demean and ridicule and try to make good people leave office or not consider running.

There is an old line, “What’s a nice girl like you doing in a place like this?” With all the political nastiness, many wonder why a nice person would enter such a vicious arena. The reason is simple. I love my country, I love my family and I care enough about both to commit my life to preserving that for which our founding fathers lived and died.

Judging from the approach Mrs. Davis has taken to Scott Rupp, she has either changed her description of a nice girl or this is one time you'd rather not bring a nice girl home to meet the parents.

Consider this attack on Rupp and his fellow Republicans, Mrs. Davis' party by the way, which the folks at the Democratic party house blog, Fired Up Missouri, were only too happy to publicize:

Cynthia Davis laid into Scott Rupp and his Republican colleagues in the Missouri Senate on Gina Loudon's radio program yesterday, stating that Rupp et al. are just a "big frat club," are "too wimpy to handle coercion [legislation]," are inept and "trashed" her Health Care Freedom Act by putting a statutory change on the August ballot instead of a constitutional amendment.
If Cynthia Davis is "a nice girl," give me a floozy any day.

    I hate term limits.

    Except in this case.

    And, Marilyn.

    And, Wilson.

    Especially Wilson.

Anonymous 9:19 - thank you for describing Randy and his new self-made image of a tv "news talker" This reminds me of little kids who "play school" or "play cowboys" or "play house."

The photo attempts to associate Cynthia Davis with Dolly Madison, the patriot. Perhaps Dolly Parton would have been more appropriate. You know, kinda cute in earlier years, a little scatter-brained in later years.

The truth of the matter is that Scott Rupp is someone you can go to in Jefferson City to get things done.

Dolly Davis is someone to avoid in Jefferson City, and her record proves it.

Even with term limits we can't seem to get rid of non-performers like Davis and Ruestman.

Davis hates freedom. Every stinking piece of legislation she comes up with or supports is yet another attempt to have the gov'mint tell me what I can and can't do.

If you vote Davis, you vote against freedom.

If Davis would just file bankruptcy like Neosho Councilwoman Bowers, Randy would leave her alone.

Davis thinks with her brain and our money, she can socially engineer Missouri to her specifications.

She is more than a half-bubble off plumb.
