Steelman: Washington needs more people like Billy Long

The Billy Long campaign just released this item concerning former State Treasurer Sarah Steelman's endorsement of Long, which became official Wednesday night:

Former State Treasurer Sarah Steelman announced her support of Billy Long for Missouri's 7th Congressional District. Billy Long is a successful small businessman who is running for office for the first time.

"I'm supporting Billy Long because Washington D.C. needs more people like him who have experiences outside of politics and are willing to stir things up," Steelman said.

Sarah Steelman's announcement comes on the heels of a number of prominent conservative leaders and organizations that are backing Billy as the candidate most capable of advancing the conservative cause in our nation's capital. Mel Hancock, a conservative statesman who once held the 7th District Congressional seat, national sensation and former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, and the prominent Missouri Right to Life have also voiced their support for Billy.

What a disappointment! Steelman should be embarrased that she broke her anti-endorsment streak for Billy - that's a bad bet if I've ever seen one! I'll remember that Sarah thinks we should vote for someone without political experience when she decides to run again.

    "Anti-endorsement streak"?

She's endorsed several candidates lately. Lincoln Hough and Nita Jane Ayres come to mind, but I believe there's more.

Yeah uh Sarah. The last thing we voters care about right now is what a politician thinks about another politician. Especially if they don't really KNOW that politician. Politicians got us in to this mess, and endorsement from such only should turn voters the other way. I think voters are starting to catch onto the game.

It's a tired old movie. We keep electing people just because they have the most money, we will keep getting more of the same. Let's get off the treadmill America. It has us worn out.

For someone who touts his inexperience Billy sure does have a few big politicians behind him.

Sarah just about had to do this. She needs the deep pockets supporting Long for her plans on down the road.

Sure hope Billy wins, for her sake.

Otherwise, she is going to have a long line of asses to kiss to rebuild support in Southwest Missouri

More inside politics for the Billy Long campaign.. The ONLY reason this endorsement and the Huckabee endorsement is because all three have employed shameful and underhanded political consultants Jeff Roe and Jeff Harris.

Billy has run a horrible campaign and this is a last ditch (and still horrible) effort to atone for all the missed opportunities his consultants have had.

When you think about it, the people who like her had already decided for Long. This was a no sweat deal.

I know many of the folks in Springfield who are for Goodman were not for her in the Republican Primary for Governor so what the hell.

Billy wins, she wins. Billy loses, everyone comes together to support either Nodler or Goodman and away we go to the General Election.

If Eckersley wins the Democrat Primary, the Republicans will have so much fun making him a punching bag that they will forget Sarah Steelman was for Billy.
