In my post last night about the desperation of Billy Long, I noted that Jack Goodman had not accepted a campaign contribution from casino interests since 2002, quite contrary to the impression given by Long's robocall that Goodman was receiving campaigns right and left from gambling interests.
I made the mistake of just sifting through all of the contributions from Goodman's federal campaign and his state campaigns without checking through other documents filed with the Missouri Ethics Commission.
As a reader pointed out to me a few moments ago, Jack Goodman returned all casino contributions in 2002:
In a letter dated Aug. 14, 2002, to the Ethics Commission, Goodman wrote: "Please be advised that my campaign committee has refunded the following contributions." Listed were the $300 contribution from Isle of Capri and $150 from Missouri Gaming Company that I included in last night's post, plus $300 contributions from Harrah's Operating Company, Ameristar Casino Kansas City and Ameristar Casino St. Charles.
So not only did Jack Goodman not accept campaign contributions from gambling interests, but he has a clear record of fighting those gambling interests since he first took office.
This is a bad bet for World Poker Tour Billy to go "all-in" on... I'm glad you called him on his bluff!
ReplyDeleteLong's campaign has been taken over by the Steelman faction of the Republican Party.
ReplyDeleteThat means that Jeff Roe is doing the only thing he know to do.
He has moved his attention from defeatnodler.com to lieaboutGoodman.com
To say he is a turdbreath would pay him a compliment.
It looks like this campaign in the GOP Primary has turned into a struggle for control of the Republican Party in Southwest Missouri.
ReplyDeleteSteelman versus Blunt.
Steelman wins massive changes through Billy.
Blunt wins, status quo through Jack.
Moon wins, the Rabbi runs the show.
Wardell wins, $2-off on a slab of ribs.
Hunter wins, his wages are immediately garnished.
I don't know which is the best or worst of these two options.
I'll guess we just have to wait and see.
Shalom ~ Most any Lawrence county resident who is involved could have quickly told you that Jack is a "good man" and returned the gambling money. Enough said.
ReplyDeleteIt seems rather silly for some to make bold political predictions, as one "anon" does, yet not provide full name. To whom will credit be given for such pithy points of political punditry? Properly credited, they can perhaps earn a real job, move out of the basement of their parents home, have some cash to buy street clothes and get out of the pjs.
Seems rather cowardly to hide behind this blogs "anon" permission. If you have found your courage, contact me for an invitation on the broadcast below. You will be warmly welcomed and given great honor - simply because of your skills in political precognition.
Rabbi DF Eukel, the radio rabbi of Ramble & Rumble with Rabbi, M-F on blogtalkradio from 6:00-7:30 AM CST.

ReplyDeleteShalom, your own self.
What brought you out of the booth at the fair long enough to join the fun?
You would fit right in with your own booth with the other paid to travel hucksters.
How do you measure the size of your audience on blogradio, or what ever you call it?
From the anonymous folks at Bootleggers in Aurora. Come in some time and we will talk about it.
Thanks for such an illuminating invitation... but I am not into basement banter.
ReplyDeleteSo, come on, get your coffee, your courage and join the growing audience and community conversations which now exceeds 21,000 listens.
Rabbi DF Eukel, the radio rabbi, on Ramble & Rumble with Rabbi, Venue For Vision & Values In Our Communities on blogtalkradio M-F 6:00-7:30 AM CST.
Which "anon" is it:
ReplyDeleteShawn Briggs
Scott Young
Tara Krier or
Andrea Burgess
Over 46,000 TV sets are tuned to KY3 and about 18,000 are tuned to KOLR each morning during the time slot advocated by the pithy pundit of precognition, Rabbi DF Eukel.
ReplyDeleteIt is comforting to know so many others are tuned into blogradio. Now back to the basement.
Quite funny that a presupposed religious leader makes quick witted but ill-conceived judgments of a person without knowing who that person is. Isn't engaging in blog banter below the position of Rabbi?
ReplyDeleteNot this one.
ReplyDeleteLets see ...multi-millions of dollars in capital investments annually for a t.v. production over 40+ years to reach a ratings survey estimate of 46K (during sweep weeks)compared to a radio rabbi on the air less than 2 years who has an actual count exceeding 21,000 - approaching 25,000 listens, with less than $100 in equipment, because of the favor of GOD's Promise, "Ask Me for the Nations and every nation on earth will belong to you." Psalm 2:8. I will take my GOD-gifted numbers anytime "anon". Thanks for such a powerful compliment (though you meant it as a negative). Additionally my listens exceed dramatically KOLR. And I still extend to you "anon" an invitation to 'appear' on Ramble & Rumble with Rabbi, Venue For Vision & Values In Our Communities. Do you have such courage, or are you still sippin' the basement beer?
ReplyDeleteReally? If Jack Goodman isn't taking gambling money then why did he have his campaign meeting at the Ameristar in St. Louis?
ReplyDeleteAt least that's what Lucas Case said at the Tom Schweich fundraising event.
Has anyone put together that Goodman's senatorial committee with Missouri is lead by HIM ... which means he has access to use the funds.
Turner, maybe its time to sort the facts again. Just call the Ameristar ... that's what I did!
To Bo: State statutes prevent Goodman from using contributions from his state campaigns for federal office.
ReplyDeleteMore and more I'm in favor of mandatory I.Q. tests to get a voter registration card, 3:13. You're a blithering idiot. Someone said Goodman had a meeting at Ameristar so the FEC records must be wrong. Good God.
ReplyDeleteNo fair spoiling Bo's fun with the facts, Orongo.
ReplyDeleteBo, you're trying to provide information to Bozos.
ReplyDeleteIt has been a practice of many state legislators to have fundraisers at Ameristar and other casinos for years to gather up the dollars from lobbyists and other special interests.
Jack did this without hesitation to get thousands of dollars for use for future races at either the state or county level.
Good God at 5:33 apparently does not know the difference between Missouri Ethics Commission and Federal Election Commission.
Your point, well made and well intended simply pointed out that Jack solicited the funding at a casino and then made an elaborate grandstanding effort to return it.
Not that there is anything wrong with that.
LMAO elaborate grandstanding effort? Wouldn't that require multiple press releases and press coverage to require grandstanding? Hmmmmm nothing of that sort happened. Go back to your liars chair Jeffy pooo and get the hell out of SWMO pronto!
ReplyDeleteUnlike the other famous Bo, this Bo knows nothing, and works for Billy Long spreading lies.
ReplyDeleteGood call. Jeff Roe must be a closet fan of the Dukes of Hazzard and has a dream of one day being small enough to slide across the General Lee and fit his fat ass through the window. It's wishful thinking on Roe's part, but it will never happen.
ReplyDelete9:08
ReplyDeleteNo, in this case, grandstanding only required Goodman to stand on the sidelines and get constant text messages about the press coverage for Purgason on his on-floor speech.
Goodman more or less said, HMMMMMMMM, I'd like to get a little of that and off the sidelines he comes to talk and he knows talk is cheap.
Who was it reporting Jack has missed votes in the last 5 years, many more than the 4 other Senators from Southwest Missouri?
