Nodler delivers last address to Missouri Senate
This link will take you to the last speech delivered by Sen. Gary Nodler, R-Joplin, to the Missouri Senate. Nodler has served in the Senate since January 2003.
I just can't imagine Billy Long ever being able to address the U.S. Congress, or any group for that matter, in the manner and with the dignity that Mr. Nodler did in his farewell address.
Nor, any of you who have constantly thrown negative comments toward his term of service as our State Senator.
I will remember Gary Nodler's legacy as recommending all the bumbling members of the Board of Governor at MSSU. These Board members made three unforgivable mistakes: seeking the resignation/retirement of Julio Leon, hiring Bruce Speck when the other finalist pulled out, and then refusing to send Speck packing when it was so obvious that he wasn't the man for the job. Shame on you, Senator Nodler, for not giving us better Board members.
Isn't it interesting that the second comment comes from someone whose only comment is negative and blames Nodler for the actions of two Missouri Governors, things that many folks believe were good anyway. Most people think the Board should make the decisions and not be the lapdogs to the faculty, it's clear that you are one of those faculty trouble-makers. You are probably a living testament for the need to do away with tenure. Nodler’s legacy is university status, graduate programs, the new battery research center, the distance learning dental hygiene program, the new health sciences building and a host of other great things for MSSU. Your inability to recognize these things shows your blindness.
Don't flatter yourself, Nodler. I am a republican and I don't teach at the college but we know what you did legislatively and behind the scenes. There is no legacy such as the one you brag about. That's why you lost the republican primary and barely won your own county.
To 6:24am---you have behind the scenes knowledge relating to the workings of the Missouri senate? How did you acquire such information? Was MSSU an issue in the congressional race?
In spite of you and your attitude, MSSU has a very good educational program that is appreciated by most of the students who attend and have attended the university.
This comes from good instructors, good administrators and a good group of governors who spend many hours working in behalf of the mission of MSSU.
Many, like Nodler, have benefited from the education provided at MSSU. Some, like Nodler, have chosen a career path to work in public service for the benefit of others.
Thanks 7:57 for reminding me of some of the positive things that Gary, along with many others, have worked on during the years he served in the Senate.
Like in his farwell address, Gary is quick to share the credit when things are accomplished and he and many others know that.
You and 8:20, on the other hand, should not hold others responsible for your failures in life. Just keep your heads up and hopefully things will improve for you.
12:53, I need to ask you a question. But first, I can only imagine that Mr. Nodler has done lots of outreach to help disabled and disadvantaged people through his church and through other organizations in our area. I believe the 1st Methodist Church supports several efforts in Joplin with the congregation's support.
I take some meals at the Joplin Senior Center and know he has supported this community asset.
During his term as Senator and as Appropriations Chairman, surely, he supported available programs for the disabled and disadvantaged. Am I not correct?
He did this without any assistance from you. Am I not correct?
Lastly, I believe his family and friends are proud of him and appreciate him for his community and public service.
Now my question. Are your friends and family proud of you?

ReplyDeleteNodler doesn't appoint the Board that is done by the Governor of the state.

ReplyDeleteLegacy?
ReplyDeleteYou've got to be kidding, Gary!
Legacy!... the nerves...

ReplyDeleteThank you Gary for your service both in state government and your years with Gene Taylor.
ReplyDeleteYour farewell speech was a jewel..., You are to be commended for remembering those who work behind the scenes. I'm glad you paid them a tribute.

You are one narrow-minded, sun-of-a-gun, 6:21
ReplyDeleteThis just means Noodler will have more time to spend yelling at disabled people who have the nerve to go to the movies.
ReplyDeleteLeaders always draw hack flack.
ReplyDeleteYou are correct 3:43, thus, 12:43 is a hack, and, probably on crack.
