Dorman's last day at KODE is Friday

Brian Dorman, who has been the sole anchor of KODE's 5, 6, and 10 p.m. newscasts will air for the final time Friday, according to an announcement on his Facebook site.

Dorman, who told Joplin Fuse that he was not leaving the job voluntarily, has landed on his feet, and will be the morning anchor at a Shreveport, La. station.

How come KODE wanted him gone? He was the best they've had in a long time !

I have a feeling, that KODE will be just fine without him.

I'm sure they will be fine. But what a shame--he was such a nice young man and did a great job!! It will be KOAM for me and my husband from now on. It really is just to bad.

When in the world is Jim Jackson gonna retire. He is boring and has nothing new or fresh to add to the news ...he and that weather man are a drag...I haven't watched them in years and I won't until they freshen up the place

True. But look they kick out the good fresh people and keep around the old ones. Go Figure! Wish someone would have asked me. I have lived in Joplin for 36 years. I would tell them what to do. They are making a lot of mistakes. Plus those background things are way to busy. I say keep Dorman and get rid of Jackson. But again no one asks for our opinion. Thanks Turner for this outlet.

KODE is sufffering from poor management; reduced sales revenues; weak management; budget problems; sorry management; well you get the drift.

From John Hoffman at the top down through Shirley Morton, Gary Hood, the station simply is a third-tier media with no plan and incentive to improve.

I reduced my advertising at KODE several years ago simply because they do not deliver results.

Well and they also let go of very good people. I've never heard of the Fuse before, but I saw the link on Facebook from the site that said Brian Dorman wanted to stay and they didn't want him to. Are they out of their mind? I mean, you finally have a good team in place and what looks like a nice place to work-yet you don't let good people stay. They do it to themselves. I agree, poor management. I will never advertise here on TV. I only use the radio for my business and so far it has worked well.

The stations have many issues...a stale product, poor management, and a lack of true newscasts ("infotainment" half the time. I know nexstar reads this blog...I know your current local managers may be keeping the ship upright, but it's taking on water. Bring in some experienced bigger market folks who want to move up the ladder. Infotainment can be fine, kplr has a great infotainment show, but it needs to stand alone. The antics can get old...there are some decent talent there...work on things. Sure you hire mostly new to the biz staff...put an emphasis on pride of doing a great job. Don't settle for just getting through the day.

Dorman is a dime a dozen. He cried to anybody who would listen including Randy Turner. Grow up Dorman, you chose this business, welcome to it.

Looks like Dorman had a busy weekend debriefing Randy. Wonder if there are any bloggers in Shreveport who will lend an ear?

Either some people are new to this blog or they have very short memories. Randy Turner was writing stories about Joplin TV years before Brian Dorman arrived and he'll probably be writing them when no one remembers who Dorman was. He may very well have talked to Dorman. He probably did, but I would almost guarantee he had no trouble getting the story confirmed. It is hard to find anyone in the news business who is not willing to talk about what they know or what they think they know.

7:58 PM- Yeah, all he had to do to get this story confirmed was to watch the 10pm news on Friday. That was a tough one.
