Kinder response to include answers to Missourians' questions

When Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder responds to Gov. Jay Nixon's State of the State address later tonight, he will spend a portion of his time addressing questions from Missourians, according to a news release:

Later today, Lt. Governor Peter Kinder will deliver the Republican response to the State of the State address, and will engage in a conversation with Missourians about the issues that are most important to them and their families.

Over the past week, Lt. Gov. Kinder and the Missouri Republican Party have solicited questions from real Missourians via Facebook and Twitter. Responses have poured in from across the state, and several of the questions have been selected for inclusion in the Republican Response to the State of the State.

Moderating the discussion will be State Representative Jeanie Riddle.

“Missourians deserve straight talk and honest answers to the questions they are asking about jobs, taxes, spending health care, and education,” said Lloyd Smith, Executive Director of the Missouri Republican Party. “While Jay Nixon has remained on the sidelines for much of the past two years, Republicans have been leading. Tonight, Lt. Governor Kinder will deliver the Republican Response to the State of the State address and use this opportunity to begin a dialogue with Missourians on the issues that matter most to them and their families.”

Lt. Governor Kinder will answer the questions during a live broadcast immediately following the State of the State address. In addition to answering questions from Missourians, Lt. Governor Kinder will deliver brief opening and closing remarks.

Lt. Governor Kinder was the first statewide official to deliver a live televised response to the State of the State in 2009.
