Kanakuk spokesman to Branson newspaper: We have no tolerance for anyone who harms children

A Kanakuk official, responding to a Branson newspaper's questions about the first lawsuit to emerge from the Pete Newman scandal, said the Christian sports camp always puts children first:

Ken Fields, spokesman for Kanakuk, reiterated this statement in an e-mail Tuesday, saying, “In our 85 years we have never had nor will we ever have, any tolerance for anyone who seeks to harm a child in any physical, sexual or emotional way.”
Newman pleaded guilty last year to numerous felony charges of having sex with underaged boys and was given two life sentences plus 30 years. An Arkansas man is suing Kanakuk and Newman.

Kanakuk DID tolerate abuse, for years. The repeated claims of previous incidents with Pete and minors are not made up. Pete was placed on a "probation" (employment, not legal) in 2003. And, there are two other instances of allegations against Pete prior to 2003. And, if that isn't bad enough, Joe White was a character witness in a trial for the former Kanakuk pilot who was convicted of having a sexual relationship with his (the pilot's) own biological daughter. Joe White allowed the man to stay at kamp (while kids were around) and told the court that he would trust this man around his (Joe White's) own grandkids. Hello? It seems they just want to deny and spin what's happened.
