U. S. Senate candidate Sarah Steelman received at least $19,400 from the Herzog Construction PAC and from people connected with the St. Joseph firm, according to a disclosure report filed this week with the FEC.
The document indicates she received the maximum $5,000 from the PAC, with the rest coming in the form of maximum $2,400 contributions.
Missouri's two best-known supporters of educational vouchers, billionaire Rex Sinquefield (who has been in the news more lately through pushing for the so-called fair tax) and Charles Norval Sharpe also came through big time for the former state treasurer, according to the FEC report.
Sharpe and his wife each gave the maximum $2,400 for both the primary and general election, for a total of $9,600, while Sinquefield contributed $4,800 and his wife, Jeanie, gave $2,400.
During the abbreviated time since she announced her candidacy, Mrs. Steelman raised $207,819.17 and spent $18,951.52, leaving her with $188,867.68 in the bank.
