Winter storm warning in effect for SW MO

From the National Weather Service:

A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR HEAVY SNOW REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM CST THIS EVENING.

* SHORT TERM TRENDS...HEAVY SNOW DEVELOPING ACROSS EXTREME SOUTHWESTERN MISSOURI WILL SPREAD EAST ALONG THE ARKANSAS AND MISSOURI BORDER THIS MORNING. SNOW WILL BECOME HEAVY AT TIMES ACROSS FAR SOUTHWEST MISSOURI FROM NEOSHO TO BRANSON DURING THE MORNING COMMUTE. SNOWFALL RATES WILL BE UP TO AN INCH PER HOUR IN THE HEAVIEST SNOW BANDS. WIND CHILL VALUES WILL BE IN THE RANGE OF ZERO TO MINUS 10 BELOW THROUGH THE MORNING HOURS.

* TIMING AND AREAS AFFECTED...HEAVY SNOW WILL IMPACT FAR SOUTHWEST MISSOURI EARLY THIS MORNING BEFORE TAPERING OFF THIS AFTERNOON * SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF 5 TO 8 INCHES CAN BE EXPECTED. LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS WILL BE POSSIBLE.

* WINDS AND VISIBILITY...NORTH TO NORTHEAST WINDS OF 10 TO 20 MPH WILL CAUSE SOME BLOWING AND DRIFTING OF THE SNOW. THE VISIBILITY WILL DROP TO NEAR OR BELOW ONE QUARTER MILE AT TIMES IN HEAVY SNOW.

* IMPACTS...HEAVY SNOWFALL RATES POSSIBLY UP TO AN INCH PER HOUR AT TIMES WILL LEAD TO RAPID ACCUMULATION AND DETERIORATING ROAD CONDITIONS DURING THE MORNING COMMUTE. TREACHEROUS TRAVEL CONDITIONS CAN BE EXPECTED WEDNESDAY.
