Area school superintendents help Joplin School District deal with tornado

Joplin R-8 Superintendent C. J. Huff has a lot of expertise at his disposal as he deals with the mammoth tasks surrounding recovery from Sunday's tornado. The Springfield News-Leader details how area superintendents have been in Joplin to help:

Gordon Pace, superintendent of the Ozark school district, said there is an unspoken bond between superintendents. Among other things, they all share a commitment to keeping students and staff safe.

"We have a good plan in place, most school districts do," Pace said. "But something like this, I don't know how you could plan for three or four buildings and the loss in the community and everything. You do your best but an F5 tornado is hard to plan for."
