In an editorial published Thursday, the Pueblo Chieftain praised the job Leon has done as interim president and expressed pleasure that Leon will continue in that post for a while longer as the university searches for the right man for to take over.
Apparently, the poeple at the University of Colorado-Pueblo believe in interviewing more than one man when it comes to something as important as running a university:
Leon recently instituted an honors program that already has attracted 20 or more high-achieving top high school graduates to attend CSU-Pueblo. He also presided over the recent grand opening of the new library on the Belmont campus.
The CSU System Board of Governors needs to take as much time as necessary to find the best president available for CSU-Pueblo. In the meantime, the school is in Julio Leon's good, capable hands.
it's a honeymoon period for Dr. Leon...something everyone gets. I mean it's such a hard job to "preside"over a library opening. Let's not make him into a little god...they usually have feet of clay. I hope he does well, but he's enjoy a honeymoon and Randy is enjoying this glowing report, thinking that will prove it was wrong to release Dr. Leon. move on
ReplyDeleteanonymous(DD) is so full of it - maybe its not much but named one thing speck started and finished - oh wait I will give you some help - how about no pay raises for 4 years running - and demoralizing the entire faculty and staff
ReplyDeleteLeon = class, Speck = crass. No one ever called Julio Leon a buffoon. Or a liar.
ReplyDeleteYou're all wrong! Bruce Speck is the best thing that ever happened to Southern!
ReplyDeleteHe has brought the faculty and staff together as no one before him could! They are now unified in their distrust and disgust with Speck and the Board.
He has amassed a war chest of $12-15 million, at the expense of faculty, staff, and students, to squander on wrong-headed ill-considered ideas such as medical schools, indoor football, and sky-suites with elevators!
He is ridding the school of unwanted experience, professional teachers, award-winning educators, and anyone who is likely to seriously oppose his trashing of the institution.
And he's made BoG member DD the De-facto Dictator of the university.
Well done! Way to go, B.S.!
Now go do it for some other school -- please!
Honeymoon? for an interim president?...sorry, interims usually mark pace and warm the seat for the next guy...
ReplyDeleteApparently, that's not what Dr. Leon has chose to do... and he is recognized for that...
"Missouri newspaper praises Bruce Speck"
ReplyDeleteThis will soon be the headline as the Joplin Globe rushes to defend the embattled Speck.
This just makes me sick and tired. Leon was wonderful for Missouri Southern and most of the press was good while he was there. Speck is not even fit to lick Leon's shoes.
ReplyDeleteDr Leon's departure was the area's loss but then again, this area doesn't have what takes to know it Too bad!
