They each lost their homes when an EF-5 twister struck the southwest Missouri community May 22. They each knew Friday meant something more.
"I'm doing this to represent Joplin," said Campbell, a senior, "and to show that we're not going to give up."
"We're here for a good reason," said Craig, a recent graduate. "We're representing our town."
The presence of Craig and Campbell was a reminder that the Joplin tragedy will linger for years to come. Reporters and television cameras that swarmed the battered town have mostly moved on.
