Cantor: No money for Joplin without cuts, but maximum donation for Billy Long

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, R-Va., the same man who said there would be no tornado relief money for Joplin unless it could be offset by domestic spending cuts, contributed a maximum $5,000 to Seventh District Congressman Billy Long's campaign today, according to Long's quarterly report filed with the FEC.

The contribution came courtesy of Cantor's Every Republican is Crucial PAC. Political action committees are allowed to contribute $5,000 each election cycle.

The Cantor PAC contribution was one of two such donations received by Long. The other came from the Rely on Your Beliefs PAC of the man Long replaced in Congress, Sen. Roy Blunt.

Long received $74,771.74 from political action committees, including $18,050 raised through the Security for America Fund, which has registered with the FEC as an official fundraiser for Long. All in all, Long picked up $178,592.74 during the past three months, according to the FEC report.

Among the PACs giving to Long were Kraft Foods/Global Inc., U.S. Cuba Democracy, Con-way Inc. Dairy Farmers of America, National Rifle Association, Continental Airlines. Honeywell, National Cotton Council Committee of Tennessee, American Crystal Sugar Company, Concordia, USA Rice Federation, National Tooling and Machining Association, Action Committee for Rural Electrification, American Bankers Association, Delta Airlines, Southern Minnesota Beet Sugar Cooperative, Owner Operator Independent Drivers Association, Enterprise Holdings, Minnesota-Dakota Farmer's Cooperative, Express Scripts, Kansas City Southern, Northrop Grumman Corporation, R. J. Reynolds, Family Research Council, AT&T, National Telecommunications Cooperative, Monsanto, Air Conditioning Contractors of America.

Long spent $50,829.74, leaving him with $209,804.35 in the bank at the end of the reporting period.

Billy's sudden sponsorship of that bill banning frivolous lawsuits against truckers makes sense now

Notice that his PAC is "Security for America" not 'Freedom for America'

He has been in office six months and has already spent $50,000, on what? He has spent all his time fund raising from special interest groups and has done what to help his constituents, absolutely nothing.

I hope someone seriously challenges him in the primary. I mean seriously gets down and dirty. It is the only hope we have. I would take just about any Republican (or even a Democrat) over this sorry excuse for "the little man's candidate." There is nothing little about Long.
