Cunningham continues to dance around truth concerning her Facebook Bill

In her quotes in the media, Sen. Jane Cunningham, R-Chesterfield, sponsor of the Facebook Bill, which is scheduled to become law Sunday, continues to do a dance around the truth.

Consider this passage from LaDue/Frontenac Patch:

The St. Louis Beacon reports that the bill’s sponsor, Cunningham, said she has been surprised by the amount of controversy over the bill “given its bipartisan support in the legislature and its passage by unanimous votes in both the House and Senate.” She said she was particularly puzzled by the MSTA suit because the association was one of the many education groups in the state that worked to help write the law.

"I find it's a real disservice to dues-paying members of MSTA," Cunningham said. "To use their hard-earned teacher funds to sue over legislation that they actually helped craft, endorse and promote. They're suing over their own work."

There is no disservice to the dues-paying members of MSTA, who for the most part, are not in favor of this law which characterizes all of them as sexual predators. The disservice would have been if MSTA had rolled over and allowed Mrs. Cunningham to continue to bully classroom teachers who have been a pet target of hers for her entire time in the state legislature.

The public testimony on her bill did not address the social networking provision at all and most "rank-and-file" teachers did not know anything like this was in the works.
