An attorney for the teachers argues the restrictions are too broad, curtail free speech and could inhibit how children are taught. Some school districts have also told teachers that they can't have electronic communications with any children, even their own or their babysitters.
The attorney general's office contends teachers' behavior is already regulated by policies, and the new law is a reasonable update accounting for new technology.

Judge hears MSTA arguments against Facebook Law
Cole County Circuit Court Judge Jon Beetem heard arguments for an injunction against the Facebook provisions of Jane Cunningham's SB 54, which is scheduled to take effect Sunday. The challenge against the law was filed by the Missouri State Teachers Association:
