Richard announces first meeting of Senate Natural Disaster Recovery Committee

As chairman of the Senate Interim Committee on Natural Disaster Recovery, State Sen. Ron Richard, R-Joplin, will meet on Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2011, at 10 a.m. in Senate Committee Room 1 with fellow committee members to focus on specific areas of response and recovery regarding natural disasters within the state.

Since the interim committee’s creation in June 2011, members making up the three subcommittees that comprised of the overarching panel — the Subcommittee on Emergency Response, Subcommittee on Fiscal Response, and Subcommittee on Insurance Response — have been meeting throughout the summer in their respective committees to consider public testimony and consult with officials and members of administrative agencies regarding their specific areas of investigation.

Sen. Richard will be examining reports containing any preliminary findings and recommendations issued by the three subcommittees. In addition, Sen. Richard will be accepting public testimony during the hearing. Those who are not able to attend, but would like to submit written testimony, can e-mail Sen.
