Missouri Teamsters endorse Kander for secretary of state

(From the Jason Kander campaign)

Jason Kander announced today that his campaign to be Missouri’s next Secretary of State has received the endorsement of the Missouri Teamsters. The Missouri Teamsters, which represent 35,000 Missouri workers and 20,000 Teamster retirees, decided to back Kander based on his commitment to Missouri’s working families and his vision for the Secretary of State’s office.
“Whether working in the State Capitol or serving his nation in uniform, Jason Kander knows the value of showing up early and working until the job gets done,” said Jim Kabell, President of the Missouri-Kansas-Nebraska Conference of Teamsters. “We are confident he’ll use this same energy and determination to work on behalf of Missouri families as Missouri’s next Secretary of State.”
“The support our campaign has received from working families across this state has been tremendous,” Kander said. “The men and women of the Missouri Teamsters play a key role in our economy by ensuring that Missouri-made products are delivered to market. I look forward to fighting for these workers in the Secretary of State’s office.”
Teamsters work in the areas of freight distribution, car-haul, heavy highway construction, wholesale and retail food distribution, small parcel and package delivery, brewery and soda manufacturing, school bus drivers, and many of Missouri’s transportation industries.
“The Secretary of State’s office touches the lives of thousands of Missourians each and every day,” said Billy Thompson, President of Local 838 and recently appointed President of Teamsters Joint Council 56 in Kansas City. “Jason Kander will do a terrific job leading this office with honor and distinction.”
“Public service has always and will always be important to Jason Kander,” said Marvin Kropp, President of Teamsters Joint Council 13 in St. Louis. “He’s fought for tougher ethics law and to protect the rights of Missouri workers. We are pleased to support his Secretary of State campaign.”
