Billionaire voucher supporter Sinquefield gives $50,000 to Jane Cunningham

The biggest enemy public education has, Sen. Jane Cunningham, may have been forced into a reshaped district that pulls her away from some of her traditional constituency, but it appears she will have plenty of money to continue her attack against public schools and public school teachers.

Billionaire voucher supporter Rex Sinquefield contributed $50,000 to Mrs. Cunningham's campaign during the last 20 days of December, according to her quarterly report, filed today with the Missouri Ethics Commission.

Sinquefield made $5,000 donations to Mrs. Cunningham on Dec. 12, Dec. 19, Dec. 22, and Dec. 26, and then capped it off with a $20,000 bundle on the final day of 2011.

Sinquefield's cash infusion of accounted for nearly one-third of Mrs. Cunningham's $155,000 haul during the fourth quarter. Her report indicates she had $208,000 in the bank as of Dec. 31.

Mrs. Cunningham has filed one bill after another targeting public schools and public school teachers during her eight years in the House of Representatives and during her first term in the Senate, including last year's proposal to eliminate tenure and replace it with a four-tiered system based on student scores on standardized tests.
